The Basque Country to share approaches with the European regions at the ENCORE Conference that is focusing on the circular economy, climate and ecosystems
The Environmental Conference of the Regions of Europe – ENCORE is being held in the Danish city of Herning between 20 and 22 September, with 27 regions from 13 countries taking part. During the week, around 50 young people from the participating regions, including two from the Basque Country, will come together at YouthCORE, a forum in the run-up to the official event and which will produce a proposal to act as the basis for the discussion by the regional ministers attending the conference.
Two out of every three young people in the Basque Country move daily using only sustainable transport
European Mobility Week 2018 VG 2018 09 20 In 2016 (the latest data available), 81.9% of Basque youths aged 15 to 29 said they usually moved about on foot (or scooter). In addition, 39.8% claimed to use collective public transport (bus, train, subway, tram…) on a daily or almost daily basis and 8.1% said they cycle every day. As we can see, these forms of transport are not mutually exclusive and young people combine several modes of transport. Overall, 88.9% of young people in the Basque Country said they used some type of sustainable transport on a daily basis.

The analysts gathered at Exeter (UK) highlight "the need to develop the skills of people in a world of work that is constantly evolving" VG 2018 09 17 Lanbide-Basque Employment Service, with Prospektiker, has participated in Exeter, United Kingdom, in the meeting held annually by the European Network for monitoring the regional labor market. The meeting has brought together a hundred specialists in social and labor matters. The Basque delegation has focused its intervention on the progress of the Replay Vet project. This project is a research funded by the European Union and which studies different strategies of vocational training for people with low qualifications and difficult access to the labor market. During the first quarter of 2019 the conclusions of this work will be discussed.
