The Minister of Employment and Social Policies of the Basque Government, Mrs. Beatriz Artolazabal, and the regional Deputy of Environment and Urbanism of Araba, Josean Galera, shared this morning the experience that twenty young people star in the restoration of the source and natural conditioning of the depopulated from Villamardones. The place is located 900 meters high in the Valderejo Natural Park, in Araba-Álava, Basque Country.

The valley of Valdegobia, in Araba-Álava, hosts from August 1 to 15 to the youth volunteer camp or Auzolandegia (in basque language). It´s dedicated to archelogy and recovery of the environmental environment and historical heritage. The objective is the recovery of the source and conditioning of the depopulated Villamardones to include it in the route of the Natural Park of Valderejo.

Artolazabal and Galera have been interested in the reasons that have encouraged the youth group to participate in the summer activity located in one of the best natural surroundings of Euskadi (The Basque Country). The Minister and the regional deputy have exchanged views with the group. Along with them the deputy mayor of Valdegobia, Roberto Porres, has participated in the meeting.

“You are going to have one of the best memories and experiences of your life because here you have everything: nature, companionship, free time full of activities and the use of a common language such as English. Everything will result in excellent training for your future jobs and adult life”, said the Minister of Employment and Social Policies. The regional deputy of Environment and Urbanism has explained to the group of young people “the value of Alava's natural heritage” and has praised its “commitment to sustainability, the environment and the climate”

The group of young people who carry out this volunteer work is between 18 and 26 years old and their monitors are in charge of teaching them the work techniques. Every day they enjoy the environment with various cultural, recreational and sports activities. There are 12 girls and 7 boys from all over the state and from France, Russia, Serbia and Kazakhstan.
